Weird Movie Wednesday: Crawl

Welcome to Weird Movie Wednesday. Today we are talking about the newest creature feature to grace the silver screen, Crawl. I had planned to do a review of this movie last week on FearStyle Friday but, you know, things happen. So here we are. I did enjoy this film as it kind of reminds me of a similar situation that I had experienced in my real life. Before we get into that story let's run down the film, shall we? Crawl is about University of Florida swimmer Haley who is trying to find her father before a massive hurricane devastates Florida. He hasn't been answering his phone and Haley and her sister are starting to get worried. Throwing caution to the 100 mph winds, Haley drives out to her childhood home to find her father trapped in the houses crawlspace. He is unconscious and upon closer inspection she finds that he has been attacked by something large. Then the alligators show up. The rest of the movie is a mirage of torrent rains, floods and man eating alligators. Th

Weird Movie Wednesday: Double Feature

Hello and welcome, hope you are ready for a double feature. I've been kind of in a blah yet productive mood recently and, as a result, haven't really planned anything out for this project. Fret not, for I am here to calm your fears by gifting you with two spine chilling tales of terror....ha! If you are a frequent reader of my blog then you know I never talk about anything that is truly spine chilling. But I have two cool picks that those who love the obscure are bound to enjoy. So, without further ado... 1) Movie number one is a 80s hidden gem calls Class of 1984. It stars Perry King, Roddy McDowell, and a very young Michael J. Fox. It's about a gang of kids who run this really poor school and it's kind of hilarious. The best thing about this movie is that if crimes are committed in this town and there was no one to see it then no one goes to jail. You could get away with murder... 2) The second to movie is called The Shellmont County Massacre. This movie just

Weird Movie Wednesday: Klown Kamp Massacre

Welcome weirdos to another installment of Weird Movie Wednesday, where I talk about my favorite obscure horror movies. In keeping with my summer feeling, I've decided to search my movie archives for one of my favorite and very weird horror movies brought to you but the weirdos over at Troma. This movie is totally absurd and over the top, I don't know where to even start. I suppose the first thing to mention is that it is about Klowns (which I love), a summer academy for said klowns (also love), and a senseless slaughter. It's crazy yet so lovable that I just have to tell you about it, so let's do this. On graduation night, 15 years earlier, a klown looking to spread laughter was humiliated when his jokes didn't make anyone in attendance chuckle. To retaliate, he murders the lot of them. The senseless slaughter forced the shut down of the Klown Kamp Academy. Against the advice of locals, kamp owner Bozo goes ahead and reopens the kamp and unwitting klowns sign

FearStyle Friday: License To Drive

Hello and happy Friday, horror fans. Hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend ahead. So, remember on Wednesday when I said we might talk about something spooky? Well, I lied. I don't lie often but I was sort of waiting to see how this day was going to go before I chose my Friday movie to talk about. Today is a very special day in this household because my brother and sister have passed their drivers test and now are licensed to drive. The only movie I could think of that could correspond with this milestone is the aptly titled License to Drive . This 80s classic is a staple, we all love it (even my brother) and that alone makes it the perfect movie for this excellent day. License to Drive is like any teen movie from the 80s and by that I mean that it stars the two Corey's, Haim and Feldman. They were everywhere in the 80s, it was ridiculous. In this one the boys go through the trials of getting your drivers license and the responsibilities that come al

Weird Movie Wednesday: Sleepaway Camp

Happy Weird Movie Wednesday! I hope everyone had a super fun Fourth of July. I certainly did and with all this summer fun I've been itching to write about one of my favorite summer horror movies, Sleepaway Camp . This cult classic came out in the fall of 1983 and stars the lovely Feilssa Rose who gained cult actress status due to the underground popularity of the movie. All that and she hardly spoke in the whole film!  Sleepaway Camp would spawn three more movies and a secrete unfinished movie that has only been released in the first aid kit box set of the films which does not include the fourth Sleepaway Camp movie, Return to Sleepaway Camp . In this, Rose reprised her role as Angela alongside other original cast members, as well. In an effort to prolong the life of my blog, we will only be talking about the first one for today, so let's get started. The movie begins with a couple of little kids playing with their dad in a lake. They are splashing and laughing and havin
