Hello horror fans, hope you are having an awesome Friday! I have been super busy today, so this is a quick little post for you to hold you over until I finish my Pet Sematary Review. I realized while writing some today that I had A LOT to say about this years remake. So, it will definitely be a next week post. I didn't want to wait that long buuuuttttt it has been a week for me, let me tell you. As long as I get something out twice a week, I'm a happy lady. For today I decided I would talk about my recent obsession...Horror Movie Countdowns. Like reality television, I can't look away and I need more. Even if I don't completely agree with the countdown, I am glued to it. I have always liked to hear what other people have to say about my favorite movies/music/books/fashion/etc. I was a huge fan of VH1's I Love series, where they would talk about everything in a decade. I love the 70s, 80s, 90s, and millennium were life for me growing up and helped develop my love of pop-culture. Horror countdowns really are no different. I have a few that I have re-watched recently and we are gonna talk about it. Let's do it.
I have found that if you just go on to YouTube and type "horror countdowns" you will find a slew of peoples homemade counts. Not that there is something wrong with that, and I enjoy a few of them myself, but there is something particularly awesome about watching your favorite horror creators talk about their creations. It is awesome. The first collection of videos I want to suggest is brought to you by Bravo. It is called Bravos 100 Scariest Movie Moments. On the Tube, this show is cut up in parts and, unfortunately, one of them doesn't work. However, it still is a fun watch and the number one spot might surprise you. I won't spoil it though. Plus, with Bravos big budget we get more celebrity guest such as Stephen King, George Romero, Eli Roth, Greg Nicotero, Wes Craven, and Clive Barker. The list goes on. It is a great list of the classic horror films, great for anyone who doesn't know too much about horror films and wants to know what to watch. It is a really cool list.
The Chiller Channel also has some really rad countdowns including 13 Scary Kids, Most Horrifying Hookups, Decades Scariest Movie Moments, and Great American Slashers. Pretty much all the staples. Again, we have celebrity guest, all involved in the horror genre, and they break it down. Plus, its not just the classics. I like these lists because they talk about more obscure movies that you might not know about. For me, it is always fun to learn more about how the movies are made and Chiller does not skimp on all the gory details. And this list is really funny, too. I enjoy these very much.
The final list I'd like to share with you is called The 50 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen, hosted by scream queen P.J Soles. I love, love, love this list! I found this list when I was looking for something new to watch and boy did it help. I love obscure titles and this list happens. There are a few classics in the genre but they aren't necessarily classics to the mass majority. Again, I won't spoil it for you but it is a fun watch. Plus, you are gifted with horror celebrities. The actors and actresses who got left behind in the bloody trenches. The first time I watched this one, I was in love. I knew most of the titles, but there were a few that have made it to my movie watch list. So, if you feel like you've seen it all, then check this list out because it might just surprise you.
There are a few more list that I love, but I've decided to make this one brief. If you have any horror list that you absolutely love then let me know. I am always looking for something new to watch. And I hope I have inspired you to do the same. With that said, have a fun, safe weekend. Go do something, spend time with friends, watch a movie, whatever makes your weekends great and until next time...stay spooky!
