Friday Frights Movie Review: Patchwork

Happy Friday, everyone! We made it through another week of work, school, and all the other everyday stresses. Time to unwind. Why not settle in tonight with a movie? I've got a good one for ya. This movie is a horror comedy of sorts and a fun, light-heart'd watch called Patchwork.

Patchwork is about 3 girls who wake up in a Frankenstein like body composed of the best features of one another. With their personalities combined, they search for some answers. When they think they have connected all the dots, they all decide to seek revenge. The girls live happily ever after, in a macabre sort of way.

I'm gonna keep the summary brief and tell you what I thought about Patchwork. I thought that this movie was wonderfully macabre and funny. Starring Tory Stolper, Maria Blasucci, Tracy Fairaway, and James Phelps from Harry Potter fame, I was surprised by the witty humor and physical comedy performed by all the actors. The themes are heavy but approached in a light-heart'd way. I really enjoyed this movie and its fun twist ending. What I enjoyed even more was the makeup and costumes worn by the three girls, individually and altogether.

The costumes and makeup were really reminiscent of Franken-hooker, if any of y'all have ever seen that one. We have a whole montage of them just reinventing their newly invented body. Cutting and dying their hair and combining all three of their personalities to form their new wardrobe, making them bad and beautiful. Plus, I'm a sucker for a good montage/make over scene. It's all just really fun and you root for the girls up to the very end.

One final thing to add, while I have you here, is that this movie has a Weasley. I know I'm not the only one who love love loves the Harry Potter movies. I grew up with them and I still watch the marathons whenever they are on TV. So, when my sister and I saw his shiny face, we were ecstatic. James Phelps is so adorable in this movie and it was surprising to see him in a horror film. Any actor from Harry Potter in a horror film is surprising and always a treat....even if the movie isn't great. This one is, however, so don't be alarmed.

Well, that's the end. I hope you give this title a go. It is on Netflix, if you have that, and you can find this in stores. At least, I have once before. Weird Movie Wednesday: Klown Kamp Massacre

Welcome weirdos to another installment of Weird Movie Wednesday, where I talk about my favorite obscure horror movies. In keeping with my summer feeling, I've decided to search my movie archives for one of my favorite and very weird horror movies brought to you but the weirdos over at Troma. This movie is totally absurd and over the top, I don't know where to even start. I suppose the first thing to mention is that it is about Klowns (which I love), a summer academy for said klowns (also love), and a senseless slaughter. Greetings and salutations earthlings, to another installation of Weird Movie Wednesday. I hope you are all prepared to talk about the funniest SNL movie of all time because today we are discussing The Coneheads. Okay, maybe its not the best SNL movie ever, but it is hilarious and weird and that's why we are gonna talk about it, but first a little back story. The Coneheads is a movie based off of the classic series of Saturday Night Live sketches of the same name, starring Dan Akroyd, Jane Curtin, and Laraine Newman. In these sketches, we would explore the life of cone shaped headed aliens from the planet Ramulak, who have been stranded on Earth. Welcome back, weirdo. I've got a movie treat for you today. It is one of the best, worst horror movies that I have ever seen. It's about mistaken identity, a murder, a honeymoon, and a vengeful zombie. Ladies and Gents, I present to you, Newlydeads. This is a Troma Classic about the murder of a transvestite and how he comes back for revenge. What happens is a classic tale of mistaken identity. The owner of this honeymoon hotel is taken aback by a beautiful blonde who is staying in a honeymoon suite. The two decide to pop some bubbly when uh-oh we learn that the blonde is more than what she seems. That's right she's a he and the owner doesn't play that game. In a blinding rage, the man kills the transvestite with the cork screw killing her dead and unkowingly creating a monster. This week, in honor of everyone's favorite Irish holiday, we will be talking about the 90's classic horror film, The Leprechaun . Today, I thought I would talk a little bit about my mom, her fave movies, and the movies she showed me that made me the horror nut I am today. Happy Weird Movie Wednesday, kiddos! Hope we are all ready for some campfire tales. Lately, I have been surrounded by happy campers, people who are enjoying the sunshine and pleasant weather of the lake that I live on. All this merriment makes me think of one of my favorite horror anthologies, The Willies. It is a childhood favorite and a perfect movie for this time of year. So make you a s'more and let's get this one started. The Willies is about three boys who are sleeping out in a tent in their front yard. To alleviate the boredom of sitting out in an empty tent, they start telling campfire stories. They start small, sticking to local urban legends, then they head to the main event. Hello, is there anyone out there?

Hello. Good day. Howdy, hello. I haven't seen this place in a while and just felt like hopping on for no reason what so ever. Things are crazy and I have had no time to think, let alone write. Come to think of it, I have a small audience on here, so I'm sure no one has missed me. Introduction

Do you like horror movies? Of course you do or else you wouldn't be here. I love horror and spend most of my days watching and reading all the best and worst horror has to offer. It is here where I can talk about my love of the macabre with like-minded creeps and weirdos. So, here's a little about me; I love to create. I am in need of an outlet to spread all of my horror creations to people who I think will enjoy it. Even if you don't, at least I can say that I tried. Something else about me; this is not my first time trying my hand at running a blog. Unfortunately I start this process then, whenever I get a little bit busy, I drop it completely. This time I want this to work. Just to prove to myself that I am passionate about the things that interest me. Weird World Wednesday: Coronavirus and Life Update

Hello weirdo's, it's me again. I know that it's been a minute but things have gotten crazy. Believe it or not, though, I have been with you this whole time. Behind the scenes of this space I have created I have stayed active on Instagram, maintained subtle upkeep of the blog itself and, of course, watching some grade A horror movies. Besides that, a lot has happened since my last post and I thought that there is no time like now to check back in with my little place of horror. Since last we chat I have started a new job, been diagnosed with a form of IBD, and am now faced with pandemic and quarantine. It's stressful times we live in folks and there is no time like the present to purge these feelings of doom. In the midst of all these new challenges in not only my life but the lives of everyone within my reach, there have been movies to calm my nerves.
