Happy Valentine's Day, my sweets! I hope you are all having a beautiful day filled with love, candy, and horror movies. Even if you don't have a special someone to celebrate with you should celebrate anyways. In my way to share the love, I am gonna gift you my must watch Valentine's Day movies list. Show yourself a little love by watching some 80s classics and gorging yourself with chocolates, that's what I'll be doing.
1) My Bloody Valentine (1981)
This is a must watch for any horror fan, especially on Valentine's Day. I definitely suggest that you watch the original one, but the remake will do too. Both are filled with slasher fun, an urban legend and a coal mine killer. Totally awesome.
2) Flash Dance (1983)
See, it's not all horror. I love, love, love this movie. I watch it every valentines day, I don't know why. It's not really about love, even though there is a romantic subplot. It's more about following your dreams especially when they seem impossible. It's cheesy, I know, but I can't help it. Plus, the soundtrack is bomb. The whole movie makes me want to get up and dance and I usually do! Treat yo self and watch this one.
3) May (2002)
This one is for all you hopeless romantics out there. May is melancholy and beautiful. The story is Frankenstein esq, as poor outcast May can't seem to make a long lasting friend...so she makes one out of her favorite parts of the people around her. Will her new friend last? Watch to find out. It's creepy and mesmerizing and just a really cool movie.
4) Pretty in Pink (1986)
Another 80's classic to even us out. I love this movie. It's so sad. It has it's moments of uplift, but not everyone is made happy by the movies ending. However, this is a story of unrequited love and all the obstacles of being a teenager. How can you not love?
5) Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)
I wasn't going to list this one, but I have rekindled my love with this movies soundtrack that I felt like I needed to post it. Another 80's film, but more obscure, this movie is about the grass not being greener on the other side and finding the one that was always there the whole time. It is timeless and extremely quotable. If you don't believe me then give it a go, you'll love it. I bet my hands on it.
6) The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
I thought that we'd end the list with a classic. This is the ultimate forbidden love story. Two bodies made perfectly for one another, their love can never be. I don't know about you but my heart melts when Frankenstein's monster befriends the blind man as he tries to outrun the villagers who can't see that he is not a monster but a man made in a world he doesn't understand. My heart breaks when he understands that his existence is maddening and to make a wife is just as horrifying. So heartbreaking, so sweet. If this doesn't hit you in the feels, I don't know what will.
Well that's the end of my list, my sweet friends. You don't have to watch all of them...you don't have to watch any of it, really. I don't even watch all of these every Valentines Day, but what I do encourage is to tell someone that you love them today, whether it be a person, a pet, or even yourself, spread a little love. Give someone a compliment, smile at the checkout clerk, just be a good person, everyday. If you do watch any of these movies then please tell me about it. Share with me your Valentine's Day movie list. What's one of your horror must watches for this little holiday? Tell me about it. You can do so here or on my Instagram (@cameronmothershed) or my Twitter (@CameronMarie96) With all that said, have a lovely day, you are wonderful. Happy Valentines Day!
